Perfect for Christmas parties, grazing tables, kids’ activities, or a fun edible gift!
Ingredients
- 1 pack Lian Huat Wonton Pastry (25–28 wrappers)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
- Oil for frying (peanut, canola, or any neutral frying oil)
Method
Heat the oil: Fill a pot or skillet with about 2 inches of oil and heat to 190°C.
Cut into star shapes: Use a cookie cutter (or scissors) to cut each wrapper into a star.
You’ll get around 25–28 stars from one bag.
Mix cinnamon sugar:
In a bowl, combine:
- ½ cup sugar
- 1½ tablespoons cinnamon
- Set aside
Fry the stars: Fry in small batches (5–7 at a time): Fry 15 seconds on the first side. Flip and fry another 5 seconds until golden and crisp
Remove immediately to a paper-towel-lined tray to drain. They cook VERY fast, so keep a close eye on them.
Coat while warm: While still warm (and slightly oily so the coating sticks), toss the stars in your cinnamon sugar mixture. Tip: If you coat heavily, you may need to mix a little more sugar + cinnamon.
Cool & store: Let stars cool completely, then store in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
